HEALTH CARE
Region’s health care providers
expand to meet demand
Northern Colorado continues to increase in population at a rapid
pace, and with those new residents comes demand for a variety of services,
including health care.
The University of Colorado Leeds School of Business’ 2025 Colorado
Business Economic Outlook predicts that Education and Health Services
will add the most new jobs statewide during the year, reflecting increased
demand for health care services, particularly among those 65 and older.
Employment in the Health Care and Social Assistance sector increased by
3.5% in 2024, growing from 321,600 workers in 2023 to 333,000 last year.
Growth is projected at 2.5% for 2024, or 8,400 jobs.
Demand for health care has prompted continued expansion of facilities
by the region’s medical providers. UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies

• The University of Northern Colorado has broken ground on its $200
million College of Osteopathic Medicine, a new medical school to
train osteopathic doctors. The college is expected to enroll its first

• Banner Health and Intermountain Health both have received grants to
expand jobs programs that move workers from entry-level positions
to more-skilled positions with on-the-job training.
• UCHealth’s Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland has broken
ground on a $280 million expansion of the hospital that sits along Interstate 25. MCR also recently gained Level 1 Trauma Center designation for its emergency services.
• Longmont United Hospital, a division of the CommonSpirit health
care system, has expanded its cancer treatment center.
• Aims Community College has broken ground on a 30,000-squarefoot student health and wellness center, which is scheduled to open in
August 2026.
• AdventHealth, which operates AdventHealth Avista in Louisville, has
purchased a plot of land within the Redtail Ridge district. The newly
acquired property near the U.S. Highway 36 and Northwest Parkway
interchange is likely where AdventHealth Avista intends to build a new
hospital to replace the existing facility at 100 Health Park Drive.
• The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners has broken ground
on a 9,000-square-foot expansion to its 19-acre Greeley campus. The
expansion is expected to open in 2026, allowing NBCE to transition
its Part IV practical exam — a critical component in the licensure
of a chiropractor — from multiple sites nationwide to just the one
dedicated center in Greeley.
With population continuing to increase, expect the region’s medical
providers to keep pace with new or expanded facilities.
